Datanet Systems presented its solutions for water consumption  remote reading in the 2019 edition of Expoapa, Danube Water Regional Forum – Eastern Europe. Organized by the Romanian Water Association, the conference is addressed to water and wastewater network operators in Eastern Europe and has become the main meeting and networking place for experts in this field. The exhibition also hosted the international conference “WaterLoss” dedicated to the biggest challenge of the industry: water losses.

Held between September 23^rd and 25^th, the Expoapa forum also included an expanded exhibition area, with about 100 stands, where suppliers of equipment and installations for the distribution, monitoring and treatment of drinking and waste water were present. The 2019 edition emphasized the necessary dialogue between operators, suppliers and authorities, in order to make water management services more efficient and consumers more satisfied. Also, opportunities for financing infrastructure investments from European sources were promoted, as well as projects that have already received funding and are in progress.

During the event, Cristian Ceapă, Sales Director at Datanet Systems held an extensive presentation of the remote reading system, its components, as well as the benefits they deliver, for both operators and consumers. Also, at the stand were exposed equipment specific to IoT solutions for utilities, and a team of specialists conducted demo sessions of the system.

“The system developed by Datanet Systems allows complete or partial automation of water readings and is available with several remote data transmission technologies. Beneficiaries can choose devices that work on LoRaWAN, NBIoT or SigFox networks, but also the solution that processes and analyzes data. Thus, we want to cover the most common usage scenarios as well as the requirements of a broad category of operators. The market is developing, but interest is high, especially as such systems can be integrated into large projects with non-reimbursable financing,”says Cristian Ceapă, Sales Director Datanet Systems

The remote reading system developed by Datanet Systems includes: water consumption transmission devices that attach to smart meters, LoRaWAN gateway that receives and aggregates data, LOTT Water solution that analyzes data and exports them to specific applications (technical or billing) for further processing. As an alternative to LoRa technology, the system can transmit data either through NBIoT networks (Datanet Systems already has a functional device for Vodafone Romania’s NBIoT network) or SigFOX, where it exists. Also, the use of the LOTT Water solution is optional, the aggregated data at the gateway level are exported in Excel format, which allows retrieval with any available application or even manual processing. The telecommunication modules developed by Datanet Sytems are compatible with most of the water meters available on the market: Sensus, Itron, Corona, Elster, Maddalena etc.
